Dodo
Dodo
This plucky little fella I named after a, back then, popular children’s tv figure from my childhood: a puppet called “Dappere Dodo”. There was a song about his uncle who just returned from America. On a boat, mind you. Those were the days. I don’t think it was a sailing boat though.
The Dutch “dapper” means brave or plucky. Whether this kid is brave, is a bit early to tell, but he sure has a swagger that makes him look dapper.
Dodo comes with the Weft, knitted sweater, long cotton trousers, knickers, cotton cap, basket ball shoes, Monty coat and a linen shirt that can also be used as a night gawn.
You might prefer adopting him without an extensive wardrobe or with a dress. In that case contact me. I’m sure we can work something out.
Height: 43 cm/ 17 inch
General information
The head is carefully sculpted from wool. The stuffing of the body and limbs is from wool. The legs are disc jointed, so she can sit as well. The arms are stitch jointed so they hang along the body in a natural way and can be moved around freely and makes dressing and undressing easy. The 'skin' is made of cotton interlock. The wig is made of wefted teeswater curls crocheted into a cap.
You may have to help a bit for your doll to find the right balance. The hips are jointed, so from this point you can bend the body slightly, while holding the legs with the feet to the ground, and maybe replacing a leg/ foot at the same time. Stretching the feet a bit sometimes also may help.
Dodo is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted doll, made of all-natural materials. He is a collectible but can also be used as a play doll (not for the very young).
